Starting a food truck Iv read all the books and this one was full of good working thoughts and considerations. I recommend joining a food truck group in your city just about all of them have one even here in Oklahoma City the OKC food truck association is a great way to go beyond the book and find out what permits and check lists you have to follow for your area. As long as your not the same type of food truck you'll find others will be more than happy to help and guide you. These books will help you build the plan but you need a working local knowledge in order to not violate a law. Just in my city I needed a LLC, a Inspection by the city health department, a permit by the health department, a site permit every time I park on private property, a annual permit I have to buy every year to go to special events, and a site inspection permit every time I park at a public event. A great guide to getting into the business

I read through the book quickly, since it is uncomplicated and presents the basic concepts in a clear and distinct way. For anyone who is thinking about starting a food truck business or is simply interested in what everyone is talking about, this is the book to buy. The author hits on the big picture "policy" issues and delves into the nitty gritty that you would never know unless you had been on the streets running a truck for years. Since he's in NYC, where operating a business can be the most difficult, it's good to get an almost 'worst case' scenario. The section on regulations was helpful, since the author shows the different requirements and issues faced in different cities. I liked the commentaries from other truck operators; a good way to bring in different viewpoints.

Well done manual, much more informative than Food Trucks for Dummies, which was sorely lacking.

Kaye provides a concise introduction to neurosurgery with good coverage of major topics. Chapters are short and enable the student to read while on rounds. Ideally, you would supplement the reading with a true text or original articles. Nevertheless, a good first start.

Excellent for Rotations

I read this book cover to cover before starting my Neurosurgery subinternship and it really gave me a great overview for the patients I saw in clinic and cases I scrubbed on. The text flows nicely and it is easy to get through in a couple days, yet detailed enough so you can sound intelligent when talking about the topics. Good illustrations too. I would say this is a good read before the rotation starts, and then I recommend Handbook of Neurosurgery while on the rotation for specific cases.

This book has exactly what it promises, the essentials. This reads more like a brief text book over view of topics rather than a how to like the Handbook of Neurosurgery does. It still has its place however as it has a great section in the beginning explaining imaging. It also has good info as far as mortality rates and the like for the conditions listed. It explains the topics (many of which were not covered in my PA program) in a way that any practitioner with a higher than novice level of medicine can understand.

About the Author
American artist Nancy Chandler has been creating unique maps, cards and gifts celebrating life in Thailand since she moved there in the late 1960s with her young family. A native of San Francisco, her unique style is characterized by the use of bright colors, humourous comments and witty insights, and the ability to make sense out of chaos when creating detailed market maps. She now spends much of each year in the US with her youngest daughter, Kim, a high functioning Down Syndrome young lady (and an artist as well). Nancy does however return to Thailand annually on research trips and to visit friends and family, including her two other daughters, Nima (now her business partner and responsible for updating Nancy's maps) and Siri, a teacher at an international school in Bangkok.

I know right where I am!

Just returned from 10 days in Bangkok. This map is the greatest! Very handy at the weekend market and China town was SOOOOOOOOOOOO easy! We walked through Chinatown 5 times on 5 different days, saw everything! Very easy to follow, and has lots of helpful things on it! The Sukumvit map was also very handy, as that is where our hotel was. Forget a guide book! This is what you need!

Disappointed

I ordered a copy of Groovy Maps as well as one of Nancy Chandler's maps. The Groovy map provides useful detailed information in a concise easy to read format. It is first of all a map as most people are familiar with them. Nancy's map looks like it should be framed in a cheap frame and hung on the wall of a hostel. Yes, it has a map with just about every place in Bangkok listed on it even if you are looking for an Office Supply store. It is absolutely overwhelming for the casual tourist. That said I do not regret purchasing this item as I did find it useful and the accompanying booklet provided some tips, just be aware that this is probably best purchased well in advance to make notes about places you wish to see on your visit but I would purchase another tourist map (personally I like the one by Groovy Maps and I have no affiliation) for use getting around during your trip.

Take it with you to Bangkok.

This map was invaluable on a recent trip to Thailand. But you could get a similar map from your hotel! This one is more colorful, easier to read and written for Americans. However some of the places are no longer in business (one of the Jim Thompson fabric stores has closed) and the restaurants noted on the map tend to be more for western tourists (Mango Tree). But its definitely helpful for navigating, especially Chatuchak market, Chinatown and the main shopping district. It also helped us see what was nearby so we could decide where to go next.

Outstanding Text for Students of Sanskrit!

I had the good fortune to study Sanskrit for several years at an Ivy League University. Unfortunately, I was never able to take a class that involved a great deal of use of the commentaries that seem to accompany all major Sanskrit texts. I would just use them, when I could, to find word divisions, undo sandhi, etc.
Several years ago, I began to try to teach myself the commentatorial style. A former professor told me that the only works he knew of in Western languages on this style were a chapter in Teach Yourself Sanskrit Complete Course (Teach Yourself Language Complete Courses) and a German work, Nominale Ausdrucksformen im wissenschaftlichen Sanskrit - written in - at least to me - an impenetrable style of German, though I am told it is an essential text.
Then I ordered "Scholastic Sanskrit". I can not overemphasize how valuable it has become to me in the few short weeks I have owned it. It serves both as a reference text, and a teaching tool. It explains with example after example all the formulaic expressions that occurr in Sanskrit commentaries, such as ityarthah, -adi, etena...iti, and on and on and on!
The style is completely lucid and seems geared towards those, like myself, who are trying to learn this style without the benefit of a teacher. I have read only about the first 50 pages or so, but, with this text in hand, I am now able to see nuances and meaning in commentaries, where before I had just found frustrating confusion.
The authors recommend using the text in conjuction with the Anubandhas of Panini (Publications of the Centre of Advanced Study in Sanskrit), which I have also found quite helpful.
I am using "Scholastic Sanskrit" along with Panditaraja Jagannatha's Gangalahari: With the commentary by Sri Sadasiva & English translation. This text provides a Sanskrit commentary on the poem with a literal - and thoughtful - English translation. I cannot reccommend either of the books too highly for those trying to learn how to read Sanskrit commentaries without a guru. (I can also thoroughly reccommend the Ramopakhyana - The Story of Rama in the Mahabharata: A Sanskrit Independent-Study Reader )
My only negative comment on the book is that the indexes in the back sometimes provide references that are off by 2-4 pages. A minor point.

Great content -- but where is it???

While this book contains a lot of great material for those of us studying shastric literature, it is also a endlessly frustrating book. WHy? because the geniuses at Colombia University didn't actually check the pagination against their index. the result is this: reading Nyaayamañjurii, one comes across the term 'ity uktvaa'. One looks it up in Scholastic Sanskrit's index, which notes the term to be treated on page 214. One turns to 214 and finds no mention of 'ity uktvaa'

After paying for this book, I feel like writing professor Tubbs (a wonderful scholar) and aither asking for my money back or asking for a new index.

I expect better from these Ivy League scholars and I expect better for the money.

Useful and important

I actually know people who were waiting many years for this book to come out!

This book covers some basic approaches for reading Sanskrit commentaries. The examples are taken from poetical and philosophical commentaries, but it is stated in the intro that it is beneficial for all commentaries readings.

I found this book incredibly useful - particularly with the "small stuff" -- specific terms and conventions, some Panini rules etc. Although I am far from exhausting this book, I feel it did me an important service in familiarizing myself with commentarial texts.

A paperback cover would be more appropiate for this kind of manual in my view.

I use this in my 3rd grade Spanish. Immersion class to teach civics and the voting process. It is easy to understand and a great read aloud. We then produce it as a readers' theatre production and invite the parents to watch us tell the story. Students share parts in each scene. One of my favorite authors! The Spanish translation is "spot" on!

A Beautiful Adult coloring book filled with a stunning mix of illustrations to color, or doodle and color Printed front and back

What a beautiful book, a heavy cardboard cover, with 117 pages to color, divided into 7 color sections to match your every mood. Beautiful, highly detailed flowing patterns, images of animals adorned in patterns, stunning scenes many covering 2 pages, truly a book for adults. Then mixed within the book are pages left simply detailed for you to add your own doodles and create your own unique illustrations.

1. 117 pages to color and or doodle on, printed front and back of each page, on heavy weight, bright white paper.

2. Gel pens and colored pencils work well with this book, I tested Fiskars Gel Pens and Irma Gel Pens and neither leaked through the pages.

3. I tested markers and Bic Mark-it, Sharpie, and Pentel, leaked through the page enough to ruin the picture on the backside of the page I tested.

4. Staedtler Fine liners leaked through the least with only a couple dots of black actually going through the page so I am going to color a picture with these. The Staedtler Fibre tips some colors did leak through especially the very dark colors blue, green, black and other colors did not leak through at all.

5. This is a beautiful book, the cover is thick heavy weight cardboard, the book is 11 ¾ inches by 8 ¼ inches and it is ¾ of an inch thick.

6. The background colors and different colors for the drawing lines make this book special, and the book is divided into seven color sections. The second page of the book has a simple color wheel, a list of cool and warm colors, this is a nice touch.

7. The coloring pages are very detailed, the doodling pages simply detailed so you can add your own doodles and create your own unique illustrations.

8. With over a hundred illustrations I am going to add my favorites and one doodling page (the landscape with fish is the doodling page) for you to look at.

The positives:
(1) hard bound which gives a sturdy surface for working no matter where you are
(2) pages don't leak with gel pens
(3) lots of pages

Negatives:
(1) some pictures are completely colored in
(2) most are partially colored in
(3) many are on colored backgrounds or have colored lines
(4) there are pages that are mostly blank
(5) some of the images are rudimentary not at all intricate like the one on the cover

Doodlers who looked at this book on my shelf were thrilled, colorers who looked at this book on my shelf were annoyed or stressed out by it

Overall, I found a lot of this book stressful not stress reducing. However, when I showed it to someone who doodles to de-stress they were thrilled by it. So I think there are lots of people who will love this book. For people like me, who want yo sit calmly and color or give to others to do the same,

Meh, I'm not really impressed with this book. I've purchased several therapeutic coloring books for adults in the recent past and this is the one that I have to say that I'm disappointed that I purchased. The drawings are gorgeous, don't get me wrong. But many if the drawings are cut off by the binding, many are already half colored for you and a few are double page drawings that are completely impeded by the binding. Great drawings, bad binding :( Very disappointed.

Very simple and comprehensive guide to the most common (and slightly less common) ultrasound guided MSK injections. Would have been a five star review if they could have online streaming content or associated DVD with step-by-step instructions for some of the more common injections, such hip, knee, shoulder, ankle and CMCP.
